Surrendered veil

I helped her feel as ugly as she ever felt
and vunrable she never opted –
for then I laid a kiss upon her head to let her know I was besotted.

She cried salt and sugar
and next she didn’t expect
upon my shoulder is where I put her
Her beauty she never had to reflect.
